Poets in the southern separate of France preferred passion, emotion and simplicity of expression to reason and well-learned craft. In the medieval times poetry was emotional and non critical. The poetry that I was reading was not focused on once husband but on a knight or even noblemen. The trobairitzes would lust afterwards knights that protect their families. The females would write songs but were known for their poems of lust and love. The poems that were compose were telling their true feelings this was the only way they could express how they feel about the one they love and knew they could not build that one person they want. Church did not allow passion in the midst of husband and wife, so many of the marriages where not for love.
Today we primarily marry because we fall in love with that one person, so cheating is not acceptable, nor desires others but your partner.
Soon after I got done reading the work of Contessa de Dia, Cruel Are the pain Ive Suffered, I was just amazed on how far the wifes would go for there desires. It tells a story of how a wife of a king felt towards a knight that protects her and her husband. She fell in love with him but knowing she cannot micturate him because of her status within the kingdom (Sayre, 2012). The knight is the only affair she can think about wishing to hold him and to have him under her control to where he would obey her orders.
