During colonization, many people from all over Europe came to magnetic north America in search of new opportunities involving land. Virginia and Massachusetts were branch of the English expansion into the new continent. Massachusetts was founded mainly for sacred freedoms, while Virginia was primarily founded for economic purposes. In both of these places political science were greatly influenced by the economy.

In 1607, London investors known as the Virginia Company sent a ship of 100 manpower to Chesapeake Bay in search of gold. These men created what was to be the early permanent English settlement in North America, named Jamestown. Regrettably, no gold was to be found. This lead to frustration and tension amongst the Europeans and the Indians began to rise because the Indians claimed the Europeans had no right to take over their land. The store of not acquiring gold, along with the debate with the Indians, influenced the Virginia Company to hold up an extended war between the two ethnicities. The confrontation lasted until 1613. curtly after, it was found that Virginias main source of income was in the labor of Tobacco.
