For our group project, we chose to do For the Film Buff and we chose to bide Disney Movies from an existential philosopher point of view. The movies we adopted were Cinderella, Aladdin, Mulan, and The Little Mermaid. To present our understanding of existentialist philosophy, we seduce done a power point explaining on each slide, the existentialist point of view of each Disney movie. Also, to limn more than of our understanding of existentialism, we used the book, Siddhartha by, Hermann Hesse and the independent books we chose, The Island by Aldous Huxley and Do Androids ambitiousness of Electric Sheep? by Phillip K. Dick.
The Disney movies we chose had a wide variety of ideas of existentialism and any sh atomic number 18d the some of the same ideas of existentialism. The main ideas were amicable approval, the good life is one of wealth, pleasure, or honor, accept what is and that is exuberant in life, people are good by nature, ruined by society or external forces, some things are irrational and absurd, without explanation, if one makes a decision, he or she essential follow through, and social structure trump the individual and that homo has free will (Nelson 1) and all were connected to either the character, the situation, or result/end of the movie.
We listed the most important ideas of the movie and added a clip/song from the movie as evidence to show the idea of existentialism from the movie.
Each of us took an even berth working on our project. We each picked the movie we wanted to watch and take notes on, so we can say what we thought of how an existentialist would look at the movie. Jessadel watched Aladdin, Michael watched Mulan, Regine watched The Little Mermaid, and all of us watched Cinderella together.
