Dmitri Mendeleev was a Russian chemist. He was born in Tobolsk, Siberia, on January 27, 1834. He came from a family of 17 children and he was the youngest. In Mendeleevs early years his overprotect became blind, was forced to retire from his job and died unexpectedly. His mother supported the family with pelf she made at her glass grinder.
