It was apparent in the ill-affected nature of the youth as well as the jump in consumerism bolstered by the increased industrial activity. The twenties were a time of developing balance - women attained the vote just immigration was more stamp downive; prohibition sought to restrict the negative outcomes of a drinking society while it further the development of organized crime; and black pride became a rallying cry for the back to Africa movement while the Klu Klux Klan gained in popularity and power.
