Placating is a way of dealing with stress that involves pleasing others as they do not feel any sense of value. These people in this group tend to fear rejection especially from their peers. Irrelevant behavior leads to animateness with the expectation that the stress will go away and life will return to normal. There is also the fact that when the family structure breaks down, then there is nobody left to monitor the youth thus the youth is left seeking attention.
