Executive Summary
Zara has a dilemma whether to update its IT home or to stay with its out dated, but reliable, country based system. The DOS based system is also no longer supported by Microsoft which will also earn it a challenge to open peeled outlets. They rely on this DOS operating system for its store terminals; there is no full time networking system in place to consort the stores. With the IT system they presently have it would be very liberal for this company to lose precious time in the behavior world if it were to fail. I believe they should consider being proactive instead reactive. It is very difficult to try to your market bunk back once it has slipped. I would recommend a new system which would allow more than just being tie in to other stores, it provides accurate inventory and the ability to react faster to demands. Since the IT system they are presently using is still available I would implement a new system in the non-critical stores as a pilot project.
After it is establish I would then phase out the old system. This would allow for a more seamless process which should not interrupt business.
Zara is a fake company whose strategy is to meet the demands and changes in the bearing world quickly and accurately. Zara is part of a worldwide stove held by Inditex.
