Given the name Phillis Wheatley, afterward the boat she arrived on and the last name of her owners, the young girl was about to start her refreshful life. Phillis was taken from her homeland, torn from her family and helpless her identity as wholesome. What the young frail, girl didnt know, was that her new family would be the answer to all her prayers. For religion was going to be the real key to her freedom.
